Dr. Edie Harris, PsyD

ABOUT

Integrating Neuropsychology, Psychotherapy, and the Capacity for Change.

Welcome! I’m Dr. Edie Harris. I provide psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment for individuals navigating challenges that affect emotional well-being, cognitive functioning, identity, relationships, and day-to-day life.

My clinical background spans individual and group therapy, neurorehabilitation, and neuropsychology, and I am especially interested in the ways our emotional lives and cognitive functioning shape one another.

I completed a Master of Arts in Mind and Brain at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, a Doctor of Psychology at the Palo Alto University-Stanford PsyD Consortium, and a neuropsychology internship at New York University Langone Health’s Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation. I am also completing a two-year advanced postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology and research at the San Francisco VA Medical Health Care System and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how people may adapt, heal, and thrive when they are met with the right balance of compassion, structure, curiosity, and evidence-based care.

I joined Melantha Health because I am passionate about providing assessment and therapy that support meaningful personal change. Healing often begins on an individual level before its effects extend outward into our relationships, communities, and broader lives.

Healing can look different for every person and does not always need to involve therapy or assessment. Experiences such as art, creativity, connection, awe of the natural world, and meaning-making can also be deeply restorative. At the same time, many of us could benefit from a dedicated time, place, and guide to support deeper self-reflection, understanding, and change.

My Therapeutic Approach

No matter who you are or where you’re coming from, I believe that with the right support systems and environment, it is possible to find the courage to self-reflect, offer yourself compassion, take responsibility where appropriate, and begin changing patterns that no longer serve you. I see therapy is a catalyst for transition. A space to better understand how old patterns developed, how they continue to shape your present life, and what steps may help you move toward a different way of relating to yourself and others. In our work together, you can expect a collaborative, thoughtful, and compassionate process that supports both deeper insights and practical change.

What Working Together Feels Like

At different points in our lives, many of us encounter existential challenges that tax our coping capacities and lead us to question our identity, purpose, relationships, or direction. Regardless of whether the issue is big or small, personal or collective, emotional or neurobiological, it is common to be challenged by our environments, relationships, and histories.

In our work together, I would help you identify where you feel stuck, better understand the patterns that may be keeping you there, and recognize the internal resources you already have available. From there, we would work collaboratively to support meaningful behavioral change and help you practice new ways of responding to yourself, others, and your life circumstances. Conversation is an important foundation for understanding, but I believe lasting change usually requires more than intellectual knowledge alone. New understanding can become insight when it is embodied, expressed through behavior, and strengthened through repeated practice. My role is to support you in that process with compassion, curiosity, structure, and respect for your individual path.
